Goals for 2008-2009
- Focus on the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
process; expanding boundary rule and eliminating the 10 (j) rule
which has a direct influence over the future of the Mexican gray
wolf
- Work with teachers to incorporate wolf education into
classrooms at elementary school, middle school, high school
levels, and post-secondary schools. We will coordinate
with educators to provide their classes with presentation by
members of our coalition partners and the Project Coordinator of
GCWRP
- Educate and engage people in wolf recovery efforts via
print, digital media
- Continue to educate the general public within Flagstaff,
Grand Canyon, surrounding areas. This will be done through
direct outreach, attending as many educational events such as
Earth Day event: Flagstaffs Farmer's Market, concerts, and other
local events
- Work with lead agencies such as the USFWS, FS, BLM, and
Grand Canyon National Park (with their Resource Stewardship
Plan, particularly extirpated species)
- Continue to gather strong sound scientific research and
convey those studies to the general public and the agencies
involved in wolf recovery
- Celebrate Wolf Awareness Week by working with local
Flagstaff Brewery to make a specialty wolf brew, and by hosting
our 2nd annual "Wolves Without Boundaries" event.
We will keep you up-to-date through our ‘news and events’ link on the website.
